There are a few things that we may say definitively about it (and only a few things). Tainaron is the kind of work that defies classification or description. The following essay is a reprint of a prior 101 Weird writers feature, in celebration of the publication of Collected Fiction. It is one of the most important works of post-World War II dark fantasy. Each section of the novel illuminates the next, with the weird element serving both as strange adventure and parallel to the real world. ![]() ![]() Tainaron shares some affinities with the work of Kafka, while being utterly original. Her short novel Tainaron: Mail From Another City, reprinted in Collected Fiction, was nominated for a World Fantasy Award and International Horror Guild Award in 2005. Her Collected Fiction has just been released by Cheeky Frawg Books and is also available through StoryBundle this month. In her large body of work for adults and children, Krohn deals with issues related to the boundary between reality and illusion, artificial intelligence, and issues of morality and conscience.
